State of Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Sheikh’s wife Mozah bint Nasser Al-Missned, are officially visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina. The delegation of Qatar, accompanying the Qatar Emir and his wife, is consisted of Minister of Economy and Finance Yousef Hussain Kamal, the Qatar Media Institute President Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al-Thani, Qatar Emir Divan Head Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Saud Al-Thani, Minister of International Cooperation Dr Khaled bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah, Minister of Commerce Sheikh Jassem bin Abdulaziz bin Jassem Al-Thani, Qatar University President Dr Sheikh Al-Misned, State of Qatar Ambassador to BiH Dr Mubarak bin Kleefeekh Al-Hajri, US and Europe Division Head Ambassador Adel Ali Al-Khal, Qatar Holding Company CEO Ahmed Mohamed Al-Sayed and Head of the Research and Study Department Mohamed Nasser Al-Fuhaid Al-Hajri, as well as representatives of the Emir’s Cabinet.

Besides the BiH Presidency Members, BiH Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj, BiH Parliamentary Assembly representative Prof. Dr Azra Hadžiahmetović, Sarajevo Mayor Alija Behmen and members of the cabinets of the BiH Presidency Members also attended the formal welcoming ceremony at the residential facility Konak.

During the friendly meeting between the two state delegations, they stated that BiH and the State of Qatar have excellent bilateral relations, and emphasized the need to enhance economic cooperation, especially in the field of tourism, energy sector, development of road and aerial infrastructure, cooperation in the field of military industry, chemical industry, education, science and health.

The Emir of Qatar stresses his country is very interested in investing in BiH economy, and they agreed, after fulfilling the right conditions, to establish an airline between Doha and Sarajevo. Moreover, Qatar pays a special attention to science and investment in the fields not directly connected with the oil industry.

BiH Presidency Chairman Dr Haris Silajdžić says the strategic plan of BiH is in the field of development of energy, hydro and thermo potentials. According to him, BiH even now exports electricity, and could bring thousands of megawatts of pure energy in EU.

They discussed the possibilities of cooperation and investment in BiH economy, current halal production, for which the Qatar representatives expressed a great interest, and they discussed cooperation in the field of chemical industry.

BiH Presidency Chairman Dr Haris Silajdžić mentioned the current idea to establish and strengthen in the region, together with the neighboring countries, centers for applied research, in which the entire region could cooperate with Qatar.

The Emir of Qatar emphasized that his country investigates the possibilities of investing in the field of science and education, and expects legal and agreed investment facilitation in our natural potentials, industry and science.

BiH Presidency Member Željko Komšić welcomes and supports the world known Qatar television Al-Jazeera in opening its regional branch in Sarajevo.

BiH Presidency Member thanked for all support and assistance of Qatar for our country in the previous period.

In the presence of the delegation of the BiH Presidency, BiH Council of Ministers and the State of Qatar, following agreements between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the State of Qatar have been signed:

- Agreement between the Bosnia and Herzegovina Council of Ministers and the State of Qatar Government on avoiding double taxation and fiscal evasion prevention in respect to income tax, signed by BiH Council of Ministers Deputy Chairman and BiH Minister of Finance Dragan Vrankić and State of Qatar Minister of Economy and Finance Yousef Hussain Kamal.

- Protocol of the 2nd session of the Joint Committee on economic, commercial and technical cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the State of Qatar, signed by BiH Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj and Minister of Commerce Sheikh Jassem bin Abdulaziz bin Jassem Al-Thani, and

- Agreement on cooperation and news exchange between the Federal News Agency (FENA) and the Qatar news Agency (KNA), signed by Federal News Agency Director Zehrudin Isaković and State of Qatar Ambassador to BiH Mubarak bin Kleefeekh Al-Hajri
