Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy at NATO Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović arrived yesterday in a visit to BiH as part of the Balkan tour.

The subject of the talk were progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path towards NATO, fulfilment of conditions for activating the Membership Action Plan (MAP) and participation of BiH in peacekeeping missions, as well as the progress in security cooperation in the region.

BiH Presidency Member from the Republika Srpska Nebojša Radmanović stated that it is known that BiH has in previous period committed to European and Euro-Atlantic integrations.

It was marked at the meeting that for the unhindered continuation of the integration process to NATO, as well as unconditional accession to the MAP, it is necessary to find the solution to the immovable, defence properties in accordance with the principles stated in NATO Decision from April 2010 as the last “step” on the road to full membership in NATO. The interlocutors therefore expressed an expectation that the registration of 63 military locations will be done very soon, so that our country can get an opportunity for participation in the MAP.

“BiH is on the road to the solution of this condition and I think we are near the end,” said BiH Presidency Member from the Republika Srpska Nebojša Radmanović.

Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy at NATO Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović thanked BiH Presidency Member Radmanović for, as she assessed, a successful mission completed by members of the Armed Forces of BiH within ISAF in Afghanistan. It is those missions precisely, according to Assistant Grabar-Kitarović, which help with reaching a complete military-defensive efficacy and interoperability of BiH with the standards and values which are cherished by NATO member states.

The meeting was also attended by Advisor Vanja Filipović on behalf of BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić and Bakir Sadović Chief of Cabinet, on behalf of BiH Presidency Member Bakir Izetbegović.
