"The genocide in Srebrenica is one of the deepest wounds on the soul of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the soul of Bosniaks, on the soul of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on the conscience of all decent people in our country.
Your Grace, your Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, today as we mark the thirty-first anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, we come together first and foremost to remember.
Esteemed representatives of the Parliament and His Majesty's Government, ladies and gentlemen, dear friends, at the beginning of my address, I wish to express my gratitude, on behalf of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to the Government, Parliament, and citizens of the United Kingdom for continuously observing the United Kingdom's National Srebrenica Genocide Memorial Day.
Honoured families of the genocide victims, respected Mothers of Srebrenica, Excellencies, Eminences, ladies and gentlemen, today, with profound reverence, we bid a final farewell to the mortal remains of ten more innocent victims of the genocide committed against the Bosniaks.
Excellencies, Eminences, dear Mothers of Srebrenica, distinguished representatives of victims' associations, in the hall of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, numerous decisions have been adopted that have shaped the history of modern humanity.
As part of the programme at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante (MACA), the artistic photograph "Mother of Srebrenica" was formally presented and, on this occasion, became part of the museum's permanent collection. Following the opening of the exhibition, the programme continued at Casa Mediterráneo with a screening of the film "Quo Vadis, Aida?", preceded by an address by the Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina was a victim of brutal aggression from 1992 to 1995, and is the only country in Europe where genocide was committed after World War II. As a country that survived aggression and genocide against Bosniaks, we fully understand the suffering of the citizens of Ukraine,” said Dr Bećirović.
During his address, he stressed that we are living in a time of profound geopolitical change. Europe is facing one of the most complex and challenging periods in modern history. We are witnessing the destabilization of the global order, geopolitical upheavals, wars, hybrid threats, and growing instability. Connecting the EU with the Western Balkan countries is now more important than ever.
Željko Komšić, Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, attended the Ceremonial Academy marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Disabled Volleyball Club "Fantomi" held at Sarajevo City Hall, and, at the invitation of the organizers, delivered an appropriate address.
Distinguished Mr. President, Excellencies, at the outset of my address, I would like to take this opportunity to greet the President of the United Nations (UN) Security Council, the distinguished ambassadors of the UN Security Council member states and other ambassadors, as well as Mr. Christian Schmidt, the High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
