Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović took part in the work of the high level conference in Brussels, called “European Union – Western Balkans: How to build together our common future?”. The conference organizer was the parliamentary group of the European Peoples Party (EPP) in the European Parliament.

The
conference was opened by Chairman of the EPP Group Manfred Weber, while the
closing remarks were delivered by the EPP President Joseph Daul.
Speaking at
the panel called “Enhancing socio-economic development through regional
connectivity and digital economy”, Izetbegović highlighted that Bosnia and
Herzegovina managed to initiate processes on its path towards European
integrations, after a long period of lagging behind and various blockades.
A special
attention at this panel was paid to the enhancement of the socio-economic
sector through considering ways of improving economic growth and opening of new
working places, particularly for the youth. There was talk of connecting the
Western Balkans and the European Union through improving transportation links,
energy security, digital economy, business environment and opportunities for
the youth.
In his
address, Izetbegović particularly noted the significance of the Reform Agenda,
with which the application of wide programme of socio-economic reforms began.
It, amongst other things, initiated the adaptation of new entity Labour Law,
and measures were taken to stabilize budgetary spending and fiscal
sustainability.
Furthermore,
Chairman Izetbegović spoke about the importance of regional cooperation, with a
special focus on undisturbed flow of goods, services and capital, and he
reflected on the recent General elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, its
results and the need to implement the election results and form the government.
During the
visit to Brussels, Izetbegović met with President of the European Peoples Party
Joseph Daul.
