According to Chairman Silajdžić, Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of not being a big country, has great resources, and he expressed a hope that BiH and Poland would continue to cooperate in the economic field.

Talking about BiH’s goals in the future, he said BiH, at the recent NATO Summit in Bucharest, received the Intensified Dialogue and was now making progress toward NATO. He stressed out he expected soon ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement with EU, however, he believes that BiH should have signed the Agreement together with Serbia. Chairman Silajdžić emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s interest was to have all its neighboring countries NATO and European Union members. He also underlined that BiH has been a multicultural country for centuries and could offer its experience to the European Union.

During the meeting, Polish President Lech Kaczynski was especially interested in the situation in BiH, BiH reform processes leading it to the European integration. He said integration led to stability, in the sense of security and politics.

They also talked about possibilities of using the European Union Funds. According to President Kaczynski, Poland had used EU funds for some purposes and could transfer its experience to BiH.

An official opening of the Central Europe Heads of States Summit is planned for May 2, which will be opened by Branko Crvenkovski, the President of Macedonia, and afterwards, the first plenary session will be held. During the second day of the Summit, BiH Presidency Chairman Dr Haris Silajdžić will hold bilateral meetings.
